Where Do You Want to Get?
A favorite quote from a favorite story of mine, Alice in Wonderland, is an exchange between Alice and the Cheshire Cate which perfectly sums up the power of intent:
Setting Course with Intent
Each day we make decisions and take actions, small and big, that either lead us closer to the person we want to be and the life we want to create or further from it. Intent is our internal road map, guiding us forward toward our goals. Without intent, we're walking SOMEWHERE, yet without direction. The path meanders and we wander, sometimes forward yet just as often in circles of habit leaving us feeling stuck. With intent, we have guide posts to lead us forward, reminding us not only of what path we’re on but why we’re walking it.
Just like hiking a trail though, it’s not enough to set course once and then trust that if you just keep walking you’ll get where you want to go. It’s a continual process of stopping, checking the signs and confirming you’re still headed where you want to go. This process also allows you a moment to asses if this is still the path you want to be on or if your goals and desires have changed.
Using the Cycles of Nature & the Heavens to Reassess Your Road Map
Nature’s cycles provide the perfect opportunity to pause and reassess where you’re at - what you want in your life and what you’re ready to let go of. Seasonal shifts, moon cycles, changes in tide are all moments when nature itself pauses and changes course. Like swimming with the tide, rather than against it, as we align ourselves with these powerful natural rhythms, we can infuse their power into propelling us where we want to go.
One of my favorite writers and wisdom keepers on listening to the cycles of nature and the heavens is Rae Diamond. Part of my monthly ritual is to read her insights before I find a sunny quiet spot to sit, think, get clear and say a prayer for guidance and help in co-creating the path forward.
Today’s Super Blue Blood Moon is a perfect opportunity to fuse the power of your intent with that of the cycles of nature.
This can be as simple as finding 10-20 quiet minutes to sit and ask yourself:
What matters most to you?
What would you like to create more room for in your life?
What are you ready to let go of?
Then set an intent that will help you reach those goals of creation and release. Phrase it in a short positive & concise sentence or 2 so that you can remember it and repeat it to yourself as needed.
Write it down.
Say it out loud and ask for support from your higher power and trust that you have been heard.
If it's a big goal, something that you struggle with even though you deeply desire to make it happen, it can help to create 2 lists - one for you and one for the Universe/God (a higher power that resonates with you). On your list, write down: What can you do and what is in your power to make happen toward your goal?
On the Universe list, write down what is not in your power but which is needed in order to make the shifts you wish to see in your life.
