Returning to Life . . . Pilates Workouts Online and Now Back in the Studio

May 13, 2020 Lisa Day Harvey
Pilates at home or in studio.jpg

The last few months have been a wild ride - collectively across the world as well as within each of us - full of emotional ups and downs as we've attempted to make the right choices in the face of an overwhelming and often contradictory barrage of information, to stay grounded and to support ourselves and our families.

Now, once again, things are starting to change. Restrictions are slowly lifting, allowing us to each make choices about where, when, how often and how we will rejoin our communities.

Ready to get back in the studio?

We're here!

Core Elements Pilates Studio

Group classes are still on hold but we're continuing to offer one-on-one Physical Therapy and private and duet Pilates sessions at Core Elements.

Client health and safety has always been our highest priority and we are continuing to adapt to keep our studio clean in keeping with government and health agency recommendations.

Current Studio COVID-19 Policies:

  • Staff and clients will wear masks.

  • Sessions are scheduled a minimum of 10 minutes apart to allow for hand washing, cleaning and time for clients to leave/enter without contact.

  • The waiting room has been closed. The couch and reading materials have been removed. Plan to arrive on time for your session. If you arrive a few minutes early, please wait in your car or outside the building.

  • We request that you immediately wash your hands upon entering the studio and again at the end of your session.

  • Hand sanitizer stations have been placed next to all 4 sinks and throughout the studio.

  • Our trainers and physical therapists are coordinating schedules to minimize the number of people in the space at any time. Currently we’re limiting 1 client and trainer per room to ensure maximum social distancing.

  • Pilates sessions are conducted without contact, maintaining a social distance of at least 6 feet.

  • The coffee and water stations have been removed. Complimentary bottles of water are still available by request.

  • All contact surfaces, particularly handles and straps are disinfected after each use. If you prefer to purchase and bring your own handles and straps as an additional layer of protection, there are several companies that offer these for sale including:

    • Balanced Body (manufacturer of the equipment we use in the studio)

    • Momentum World

    • Good Citizen

  • Our beloved office manager, Lori, is still in the office to answer questions and help with payment and scheduling but is stationed in the back to avoid close contact.

  • While we hope it goes without saying, please STAY HOME if you do not feel well. Staff and client temperatures are taken upon arrival at the studio.

In-home Private Sessions

For existing clients not yet comfortable traveling to the studio, in-home private training sessions are available. If this is of interest, please contact me for details.

Online Classes

I’m continuing to record and upload full length Pilates and yoga classes that can be accessed anytime through the Online Studio page of my site or on my YouTube channel.

Latest Workout: 20 Minute Full Body Pilates Mat Classes

I've found that despite being at home more often, I'm not any better at prioritizing time to workout. If anything, the pressure to complete my to-do list (and not just the daily one but the “someday” list, full of projects I’d rather put of, as well) is greater than ever. Despite knowing how good moving feels, dedicating an hour to an online class hasn't been easy to do.

Does this sound like you to?

If so, my latest classes are for you. A full-body Pilates mat workout in under 20 minutes. By the time you’re tempted to check the clock, we’ll be winding down, leaving you free to get back to that to-do list or Zoom call.
