What's Pilates Day?
Pilates Day is an annual community event observed on the first Saturday of May. It's an opportunity to celebrate and raise awareness of the joy and benefits of Pilates through classes and events around the world.
Let's Celebrate!
While we can't gather in the studio right now, we can still practice together virtually! Below are links to some full length classes as well as short videos on improving form and feeling better. Make sure you scroll all the way down for 2 of my favorite quick stretches for the neck, hips and low back using a foam roller!
If you have a friend, that you've been wanting to share Pilates with, share this post with them - it’s full of info about what makes Pilates so great!
This 45 minute Pilates mat class is all about feeling GOOD!
Learn exercise modifications to best support your body and get some extra juicy stretching, fascial release and spinal mobilization (a.k.a. getting rid of that stuck feeling in your mid-back) by incorporating the foam roller.
Add a resistance band to your Pilates mat workout to challenge core strength and stability while incorporating arm and shoulder exercises commonly performed on the studio equipment.
Develop a stronger core without crunches! Designed for spines with special needs including osteopenia, osteoporosis, stenosis, and injuries such as slipped and herniated discs - improve posture and build strength without aggravating these conditions by avoiding deep flexion (rounding of the spine), side bending and twisting.

Benefits of Pilates
Joseph Pilates believed physical fitness was the first requisite to happiness. As many of us know all too well, disconnection from our bodies, whether from pain or judgement, takes a toll not only on our physical health but mentally and emotionally as well.
Over time, a regular Pilates practice brings us back into balance. It teaches us to breathe better, not only to fuel our bodies but to ease our minds. Learning to control our breath gives us the power to regulate our nervous system. Click below to learn some ways you can practice this at home now.
Pilates builds strength, flexibility and coordination, allowing us to move through life with greater ease and enjoyment of the things we love best.
